Prompts are the questions SE Visible asks AI engines to see how your brand shows up in the answers. Topics group related prompts together. This article explains how to find your prompts, what each column means, and how to look at a single prompt in detail.
Table of contents
Open the Prompts page
Click Prompts in the left menu. You'll see a table with all the prompts in your project, grouped by topic. The filters at the top of the page (date range, topics, AI engines, locations, tracked brands, and sentiment) apply to this table too.
View prompts by topic or as one list
By default, prompts are grouped by topics. Each topic row shows how many prompts it holds and their combined metrics. Click the arrow next to a topic to see the prompts inside it.
To see all prompts in one list, open the Group by topics dropdown and choose Without grouping. This is useful when you want to sort all prompts by one metric.
Search and filter your prompts
Search for a prompt
Type a word into Search prompts to show only the prompts that contain it. Each topic then shows how many of its prompts match.
Filter by intent or funnel stage
Click Filters to add an Intent or Funnel stage filter. You can select more than one value, or use Select all. For example, select Consideration and Decision to see all prompts in either stage. These filters work together with the filters at the top of the page and with search.
Add and export prompts
- + Add — adds new prompts or topics.
- Export — downloads your prompts with their metrics.
The counter next to these buttons shows how many prompts you're using out of your limit.
Columns in the prompts table
Topic rows show combined values for all their prompts. Prompt rows show the values for that one prompt. Scroll the table to the right to see all columns.
Brand visibility
- Visibility — how visible your brand is in answers to this prompt.
- SoV — your share of mentions compared to the competitors you track.
- Avg. position — where your brand appears, on average, in the answers that mention it.
- Mentions — the brands mentioned most often, shown as logos. The number (for example, +2) shows how many more brands were mentioned.
- Net sentiment — whether AI engines describe your brand positively or negatively.
Prompt labels
SE Visible adds these labels to every prompt automatically:
- Language — the language the prompt is written in.
- Intent — what kind of answer the person is looking for. See Search intent below.
- Funnel stage — how close the person is to buying. See Funnel stage below.
- Branding — Branded if the prompt names a brand (yours, a competitor's, or any other). Non-Branded if it doesn't. Shown for prompt rows only.
Sources and AI Overviews
- Source Presence — the share of answers that link to at least one website. A low value means AI engines mostly answer from their own knowledge, so new content is less likely to change the answer.
- AIO organic overlap — the share of links from Google's organic top 20 that also appear in the AI Overview. It shows data only when Google AI Overview is selected in the AI engines filter.
Search intent
Intent shows the type of answer the person wants:
- Informational (I) — they want to learn or understand something.
- Local (L) — they're looking for something in a specific city or area.
- Navigational (N) — they're looking for a specific brand, product, or website.
- Commercial (C) — they're comparing options before buying.
- Transactional (T) — they're ready to buy, sign up, or take action.
A prompt can have more than one intent. In that case, the prompt row shows letters instead of the full name, for example L C for Local and Commercial.
Funnel stage
Funnel stage shows how close the person is to making a purchase:
- Awareness (A) — they're learning about a problem or a category.
- Consideration (C) — they're comparing approaches, products, or vendors.
- Decision (D) — they're choosing a vendor or are ready to buy.
- None — the prompt doesn't fit any stage, for example a simple factual question.
SE Visible assigns the stage automatically. A topic row shows every stage found among its prompts.
Start with Decision prompts. These questions are closest to a purchase, so being missing there costs you the most.
Prompt details and AI answers
Open a prompt
Click any prompt in the table to open Prompt details. This page shows the same analysis as the Dashboard, but only for that one prompt. The prompt text appears at the top. To go back to the list, click × or Prompts in the breadcrumbs.
Main metrics
At the top, you'll see Visibility, Share of Voice, Avg. position, Net sentiment, and AIO Presence. AIO Presence shows how often Google shows an AI Overview for this prompt, with the AIO organic overlap below it.
Competitors, sentiment, and sources
- Visibility by brand — how your visibility changes over time compared to competitors.
- Competitors — the brands that appear for this prompt. This list is often shorter than your project's list, because it only shows brands that actually appear here.
- Visibility by search engine and Search Engines — how visible you are in each AI engine.
- Sentiment — the share of positive, negative, and neutral mentions.
- Sources — the domains and URLs AI engines use in their answers to this prompt.
AI answers table
The AI answers table shows every answer collected for the prompt, one row per answer:
- AI answer — the answer text and the icon of the AI engine that gave it. Click it to read the full answer.
- Mentions — the brands mentioned in that answer.
- Mention — ✓ if the answer names your brand, ⊖ if it doesn't.
- Source — ✓ if the answer links to your website, ⊖ if it doesn't.
- Position — where your brand appears in the answer. N/A if it isn't mentioned.
- Sentiment — whether the answer talks about your brand positively, neutrally, or negatively.
- Created — when the answer was collected.
How prompts count toward your limit
Every prompt you track counts toward your limit once per location. For example, one prompt tracked in three locations uses three prompts of your limit. AI engines don't affect the count: adding or removing an engine doesn't change how many prompts you've used.
To free up space, delete prompts that never give you useful answers, and remove extra locations that you don't need. You can see your current usage on the Prompts page and in Settings → Subscription.
