The SE Visible API lets you pull your AI visibility data into your own tools, like dashboards, spreadsheets, BI reports, or internal apps. You can also create and manage projects without opening SE Visible.
This article explains what the API can do, how to get your API key, and where to find the full documentation.

What you can do with the API
The API gives you the same data you see in SE Visible for ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Google AI Mode, and Google AI Overview. You can work with:
- Projects — list, create, view, and delete projects.
- Brands — your brand and competitors, their aliases, and metrics like visibility score, share of voice, sentiment, and position.
- Topics and prompts — add, rename, move, and delete them, and get the AI answers for each prompt with brand mentions and sentiment.
- Citations — the websites and pages AI engines cite in their answers.
- Subscription — how many projects and prompts you've used and have left.
Create an API key
Your API key is like a password: it tells SE Visible that the request comes from you. To create one:
Manage your API keys
The API keys table shows each key's name, the key itself, when it was last used, and when it was created. Click ⋯ next to a key to:
- Copy — copy the key to paste it into another tool.
- Regenerate — replace the key with a new one. Do this if you think the key was shared by mistake. The old key stops working right away, so update it in every tool that uses it.
- Delete — remove the key for good. Any tool that uses it will stop getting data.
Try the API in Postman
You don't need to write code to try the API. The easiest way to start is our ready-made Postman collection. You'll need a free Postman account.
Limits and errors
API requests don't use credits. What you can do through the API depends on your plan limits for projects and prompts — the same limits as in the app. To see how much you've used, run the Get subscription request.
There's also a limit on how many requests you can send per second. If you send too many, you'll get a 429 error — wait a moment and try again. See Rate limits for details.
Common errors and how to fix them:
- 401 Unauthenticated — the key is missing, mistyped, deleted, or regenerated. Copy it again from the API Dashboard.
- 403 Unauthorized — your plan doesn't allow this action. Check your plan in Settings → Subscription.
- 404 Not found — the project, brand, topic, or prompt doesn't exist or was deleted.
- 422 Validation error — a setting in the request is missing or wrong, for example the dates. The response tells you which one.
Documentation and tools
You'll find these links under Quick links in the API Dashboard:
- API documentation — all endpoints, parameters, and examples.
- Postman workspace — ready-made requests you can run without coding.
- Rate limits — how many requests you can send and how to handle 429 errors.
