The Sources tab shows which web pages and domains AI platforms rely on when generating their answers.
You can see where your brand is mentioned, which sites appear most often in AI results, and how to get your content included more frequently. Additionally, the tool also provides recommendations that show popular websites cited in AI search results for your prompts and keywords.
With this data, you can:
- Find the web pages that AI tools reference the most in your niche.
- Spot partnership or outreach opportunities with sites that already appear in AI answers.
- Identify topics or pages where your brand isn’t mentioned yet, but could be.
- See on which reputable sources your presence can be improved and how.
How it works
The Sources tab is part of the AI Results Tracker and is available for all supported AI platforms: Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, ChatGPT, and Perplexity.
- Go to Projects > AI Results Tracker > Sources.
- Select an AI platform, date range, and prompts at the top of the page.
After analysis in the selected search engine(s), the tool will show you the exact number of:
- Mention opportunities (sources that mention any other brands but not yours)
- Competitor-only mentions (sources that mention your tracked competitors, but not your brand)
- New opportunities (newly found sources that don’t mention your brand)
- Mentions without backlinks (sources that mention your brand without linking to your website)
Below those, you will find our recommendations tailored to your brand. Treat them as opportunities that could help you improve AI visibility.
Brand Mentions: AI answers vs Sources
In this section, you can compare brand mentions in source pages and AI-generated answers. This allows you to see how source presence relates to visibility in AI responses. The data is shown for your own brand and multiple competitor brands, which can be toggled off manually, allowing you to focus on the specific competitors.
Domains and Pages
All sources found for your project are displayed in a table and can be analyzed by domain or page. By default, the table opens in the Domains view. To switch to Pages, click the kebab menu next to the view selector.
The data in the table can be refined with a variety of filters. For example, filter sources by the number of brands mentioned in the AI answer or by the number of tracked competitors in the source. For faster filtering, you can use one of our presets or create your own.
Each source entry in the table comes with a variety of metrics for evaluating content visibility and influence. You can click the Columns button above the table to select which metrics should be visible here.
